What do people see when they Google your name or the name of your law firm?  Searchbutton75 Are they seeing what you really want them to see?

Managing your reputation online is important to the overall presence of your practice.  By working with the search engines and implementing simple strategies, you can ensure people see what you most want them to see when they find you online.

If you haven’t Googled yourself in some time, take a moment now to do so.  Take note of all the sites that you are linked to, as well as the information that appears  — it is all correct and consistent?

If reputation management isn’t currently a piece of your legal marketing plan, it’s time to add it, and make it a priority.   Learn where and how to start by watching the video below with legal marketing strategist and consultant, Cindy Speaker.

Cindy Speaker, CEO of Speaker Media & Marketing, is marketing strategist and consultant to some of the most successful trial lawyers in the United States. She is also the publisher of Law Firm Marketing Magazine, an interactive digital magazine available on the iPad.

In this video Cindy shares 3 very simple tips to help lawyers with managing their reputation online.

Here’s a brief summary of the tips Cindy provided:

Tip #1:  Determining your citation.  Consistency is key here.  Unless you have consistent citation across all fronts, you’re not going to get as much Googleability as you could .  Make sure your entire team is aware of the correct citation and they are all on the same page.

Tip #2:  Plant your flag in Googleland.  Google is merging many of their properties.   Cindy shares how you can best facilitate this merging when it comes to your online reputation and how will Google reward you.

Tip #3  Analyze and Optimize Your Review Sites.    Do a baseline analysis.  Find out what’s out there and create a project list so you can claim the sites that include your information and ensure they are optimized.

Before you dive in and try to take care of these all on your own, note the steps that an attorney should look after, and those that should be delegated to a team member or specialist.
